In 2018 we are going to be reviewing the best parks in Northumberland.
Our first review, takes us to the “Forget me not” park owned by Maguires Country Parks, in Morpeth, Northumberland.
The Park Itself
This traditional park is set in the lovely rural setting of the Northumberland countryside, perfect for people looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With stunning scenery and a variety of birds and wildlife, this park offers you the tranquillity needed to recover from any stress built up, but also offers long walks and outdoor activities for those looking to participate in fun adventures.
The park is an “owners only” park with no sub-letting allowed, you can view their used caravans for sale in Northumberland here if you fancy being an owner. The park is open 12 months of the year which enables families and friends to be flexible in their travel. Whether they want to get away for a long weekend in the winter or a full two weeks in the summer, either is catered for. Also, with it being an owners only park, there is a real sense of community within the site. People feel more comfortable knowing they have long term neighbours who they can build relationships and trust with. This helps to build friendships which are what Maguire Country Parks base their philosophy around.
The surrounding area is ideal for a number of reasons and caters for all types of people. If you are looking for history, then you are about half hour drive from Hadrian’s Wall, Alnwick Castle and Seahouses. Each of these will let keep you amazed for hours while you delve into the history of each one.
Furthermore, there are plenty of fun filled family activities for you and the kids. For the sport lovers, there are two 18-hole golf courses for those who think they can handle the blustery conditions. Inland water sports at Kielder Water and Ashington has just opened a new spa and leisure centre for all those looking to wind down with a spot of pampering.
With being so close to the seaside, there are plenty of stunning beaches that allow you to take the dog for a walk between the months of September and May. While in the summer the beaches will be packed out with people flocking there for the superb fish and chips and an enjoyable family day out. Here are a few of the most popular:
- Whitley Bay
Lastly, there is plenty for those who love wildlife watching, we can’t guarantee what you will see. However, we have had a number of customers tell us about how surprising the variety is. For example, along the shoreline, if you’re lucky, you will spot some of our otters, water voles, polecats and many more. Not to mention that the Farne Island is not only a picturesque location for people to enjoy, it also home to the Puffin.
